How can I set default location of backup files (s#N, b#N, ...) away from current folder?

Currently no options. The backup files are always in the same folder
as the "source file".

It would be nice to be able to specify a different location for the backup files, currently they do clutter up the main directory and I find myself constantly deleting them.

We want to make the backup files accessible from inside EAGLE (V8?).
I assume there is a good chance to have the backup folder getting
configurable... I' ll forward this to the dev team (again).

Hi Richard,

You could extend this functionality to be somewhat more efficient too. The backup directory could be an initial version plus deltas so you wouldn't end up with lots of copies of the whole file at different stages so could easily have more history in the backups. This could be something like a git repository which you do periodic commits automatically in the background transparent to the user. Then menu items and command line calls to revert to a previous auto backup version etc would be provided.

This would clearly be separate from any new version control tool integrations which would be under user control and in user specified repositories.

Best Regards,

Rachael
